Exhibition Day

Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Magnet High School was founded in 2013. For the first time ever, Fairchild was going to have its first Exhibition Day. Since Fairchild’s a PBL (Project Based Learning) school, Exhibition Day was going to allow everyone to showcase their projects. So, during Exhibition Day, every single classroom was going to be paired with another class from a different school to show the different variations of projects. Even though, it sounded like a pretty cool idea, things didn’t exactly as planned.

Since the month of October for was First Period presentations, the Nutria Company was going to have to present Nutri-List. Our Capstone 1 class was notified that we were paired up with Biotech’s ECE Spanish Class. Of course, we were nervous because we were going to have to present once again. However, this time, we knew this was going to benefit us. Yes, there will be a bigger audience that might make us nervous, but it’s also going to prepare us for future presentations. It is known that constantly presenting to a bigger crowd will benefit presenters in the future (Mazur, 2012).

The Nutria Company was chosen to start off Exhibition Day which was quite an honor considering the amount of groups in the room. Although, there was a bigger audience with more pressure, it was probably the best presentation we gave as a group. The transitions were great, our communication skills improved, and our live demo actually worked. In the end, Exhibition might’ve been chaotic, but it was a total success. Now, everyone will have an idea of what to expect for the upcoming months which shall only improve over time.
